Some great hip hop from 1996, dark, broody and boom bap. Im going to leave you with words from Syndrome's MySpace...
'Born in Chatham. Moved to Toronto, Canada, 1989. Started rapping at 13. "YMT Shake" - my first single was released in September 1993 which was also featured on a dance compilation called UK Seduction Vol.4. "YMT Shake" sold 100,000 units and went to number one on Radio Station Energy 108.
In 1994 Syndrome began recording his first solo album "Devious Styles" which was more underground Hip Hop produced my Canada's top Hip Hop DJ, DJX.
The first single of Devious Styles was called "Storm of the Devil". The song and video was so controversial - the video was banned. Magazines began writing about the controversial video and soon Syndrome was nominated for the MIC CHECK URBAN MUSIC AWARD in Toronto, Canada. Syndrome didn't win but was invited to come to San Diego, California to sign with a Hip Hop label DEEMO RECORDS.
Things went sour and Syndrome returned to England to start Devious Records.
Look out for 'The Return of Devious Styles' coming in 2006.'
